Luxury Wedding Photography Workshop

Wedding Photography Workshop

Welcome to our Luxury Wedding Photography Workshop in Los Angeles!

You might be wondering, what is so “different” about Make Pretty?

Make Pretty Workshops were designed for the fashion-forward, design-driven photographers and videographers who believe that there’s more than one way to create fine art. When creating Make Pretty, I was looking to fill the gap of the aesthetic I wished I saw more of in the editorial workshop space. I wanted luxury level styling from a minimalistic design approach with a sense of romanticism but not in a fairytale way – but in a more sophisticate, and dare I say, sexy style.

What I love to do, both in my workshops and mentorship, is to provide customized experiences for photographers rather than a one-sized fits all that they need to fit in to. Each mentorship is tailored to the individuals needs, and the workshops are limited to 6 people – so the hands on guidance is very tangible. Join us for an immersive experience where you get to walk away with portfolio-boosting images, 1:1 mentorship, and a day of creative play!

Can’t join us at our Make Pretty workshops?

Not to worry! I’ve got tons of tips and tricks for you right here on our Make Pretty blog! Today, I’ll be sharing 5 ways you can give your brand and business a facelift when trying to up-level and create a luxury portfolio (and attract higher level clients)!

1. ESTABLISH EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE TRYING TO ATTRACT!

This is often over looked or generalized. If you do not have the luxury portfolio you’re hoping for, at least speak to your ideal clients in your stories showing that you understand the concept of luxury. Share your favorite dress designers, or comment on the Met Gala fashion, or share luxury venues you have on your wishlist to shoot at. Just showing that you value these things, will automatically appeal to your future clients who appreciate them too.

2. INVEST IN LUXURY FLATLAYS

One of the easiest way to move up in your markets are to showcase higher end “product” – so when looking at flatlays, my tip for a fast upgrade would be to buy and return designer heels. Steven madden shoes aren’t going to cut it in the luxury world, it will actually repel your dream clients! Go for name brands like Jimmy Choo, Prada, or similar. Same goes for jewelry – BUT be sure the return policy is in place, that way you are not out any actually money! Nordstrom is my fav and go to! Nordstrom Rack also has a designer section, so check those out!

For example, this central Los Angeles Make Pretty workshop focuses on luxury fashion and tabletop decor. I wasn’t booking weddings that had lush tabletops so I knew that was a gap in my portfolio that I wanted to fill. Check out the rest of the gallery below!

3. CURATION

It’s time to “trim the fat”. While its hard at first, developing a discerning eye for your best work will really help your portfolio stand out. Thinking of your social as a whole body of work and how each post can compliment the next is important.

4. ALLOW FOR WHITE SPACE

When you visit a gallery or a luxury store – they do not have all the inventory out on the desk for you. Instead they have their key pieces displayed and allow the shopper that opportunity to ask for more should they need to see options. This is how you should be thinking when looking at your website. Sometimes loading ALLLLLL of your work into one space can be overwhelming and confusing to a client – make sure they’re seeing only the best!

5. HIRE IT OUT!

If you have no idea how to do any of this for yourself, in your body of work, or on your web presence – HIRE IT OUT!! Sometimes we’re too close to out work and cannot see our shortcomings. Hiring someone to audit your site, curate your galleries, or advise on a brand refresh can make all the difference! I offer all of those, so don’t be a stranger if you need help!

Here’s to creating the portfolio of your dreams and attracting luxury clients!

What she said…

“ If you are looking for a wedding editorial with a fashion forward and modern editorial edge – this is it. The styling was top notch and every detail was accounted for. During this 2:1 workshop, I had solo shooting time and then asked Molly, who was easily accessible, to direct the models for the remaining shooting time. This allowed me to utilize Molly’s posing expertise and see her approach first hand. Everything was amazing. The minimalistic, but intentional tabletop styling was everything I wanted to move my business forward. And I was able to connect with the planner and team more directly, creating new work relationships. This wont be my last Make Pretty Workshop, as I’m excited to attend another this Fall.” – Erin, Thereafter Photo
